Under our application for NHS Foundation Trust status, three categories of governors for our board of governors will be elected each year by members:
Patient (total: 8 governors);
Public (total: 7 governors);
Staff (total: 4 governors).
There are also non-elected appointed governors from partner NHS, university, education and local authority organisations.

Please read the governors pages before making a decision to stand. |
Each member is given a specified number of votes depending on the constituency (group) to which they belong. They allocate these votes to the candidate governors in their constituency (group) only.
The most 'popular' candidate governors are then elected as governors for each group filling the number of vacant positions.
To allow for some governors in each group to be elected each year, the terms of office were staggered from three to two to one year, depending on the number of votes the governors received during the first elections in 2004. From now on, all newly elected governors will serve a three-year term.
