Addenbrooke’s Hospital
is celebrating after being recognised in prestigious national
awards.
The hospital was a finalist in the ‘Acute Healthcare
Organisation of the Year’ category at the Health Service
Journal awards, which took place in London recently.
The annual awards are open to all NHS trusts to demonstrate
excellence in patient care and organisational management.
Dr Gareth Goodier, Addenbrooke’s chief executive,
said: “We are pleased to be named as a finalist in
the category of Acute Healthcare Organisation of the Year.
The competition was tough and we were up against some excellent
organisations, which makes the award even more valuable to
us.
“Of course we would not have been able to achieve
this without our staff: they make Addenbrooke’s the
respected and world-class organisation that it is.
“Although the award recognises that we deliver excellent
care that is right at the cutting edge, we are not complacent.
The feedback we get from events like this helps us to focus
on our top priorities as a healthcare organisation: improving
patient safety, the patient experience and the quality of
information we provide about our services. One of our biggest
challenges is to make sure we don’t take our focus
off improving patient care.”
A team of staff, representing many different roles, attended
a special ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
