The Women's Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS) has donated £100,000 of funds
raised from the sale of hot drinks and snacks at Addenbrooke's towards the refurbishment
of the hospital's chapel. The chapel will undergo the transformation next year,
with an extra £50,000 coming from the Fund and Friends of Addenbrooke's.

The aim of the refurbishment is to make the chapel more accessible to patients, visitors and staff of all faiths or none. The work will also mean that there will be better use of office space for the hospital's five chaplains and better facilities for bereavement work, as well as rooms for private worship.
Brenda Hennessy, Director of Administration, said: "We are very grateful to have received this money from the WRVS.
"The chapel is a reasonable space but is not really the best for meeting the needs of our increasingly diverse population."

The WRVS cheque was presented to Colin Greenhalgh, the hospital's vice-chairman, at a ceremony at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden on Tuesday 16 August.
