TV celebrity highlights Crohn’s disease

Fame Academy singing teacher Carrie Grant visited Addenbrooke’s Hospital recently (28 April 2005) to speak at the annual general meeting of the Cambridge branch of the National Association of Colitis and Crohn’s disease. Carrie, who used to live in Royston as a teenager, hoped that her talk, Passion for Life, would encourage suffers to lead a full and active life.

Allison Nightingale, nurse specialist in inflammatory bowel disease at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, said: "We love having someone high profile come and talk to the guests. Carrie is very open and is willing to talk about living with Crohn's desease. She will hopefully inspire people and show that it is possible to achieve anything."

Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory condition of the bowel which causes severe abdominal pain and effects between 30,000 to 60,000 people in the UK.
