Next week (17-23 October) is National Back Care Awareness Week, and physiotherapists from Addenbrooke's Hospital and the Chesterton Medical Centre will be out and about at various locations in Cambridge offering advice to the public.
"Back pain is very common and often nothing to be concerned about," said Amanda Phillips, Spinal Physiotherapist Specialist at Addenbrooke's. "Our aim for the awareness week is to give the public a chance to talk to us about back pain, and offer advice on how it can be managed and prevented.
"As well as offering advice we will have equipment on display which can help with back pain, such as seating wedges, lumbar rolls and TENS machines."
The theme for this year is ergonomics - designing the environment for human use, and reducing discomfort, fatigue and pain as a result. "This is important for anyone who works in an office and spends time at a desk," explained Amanda Phillips. "It's all about doing things on a daily basis to keep your back healthy."
