Rock ‘n’ roll band Ramshackle Daddies held a fundraising gig at Cottenham Social Club in October and raised an amazing £1,350 for the neonatal intensive care unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Band leader, Steve Gates, said: “The response to the gig was brilliant. We could have sold twice the number of tickets. We had a great evening and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success. Everyone was so generous. No charge was made for the venue, the bar staff worked all evening for nothing, and the bands and DJ gave their time free of charge.

“My grandson Hayden, who is now eight months old, spent nine weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit and this is our way of saying thank you to the staff.

“I’d like to say a special thank you to my Ramshackle Daddies mates and to the other acts who entertained everyone so well.”

Wilf Kelsall, the doctor who cared for Hayden, received the cheque from Steve Gates and said: “I was so overwhelmed when I saw the amount they’d raised. On behalf of the whole neonatal team, I’d like to thank Steve and his family, and all those who took part in the fundraising event, for their tremendous generosity.”
