A team from Addenbrooke’s has won a prestigious international award for the quality of its electronic medical records (eMR) system.

Dianne Nixon, IT Programme Manager, and David Hughes, Acting Chief Information Officer, picked up the award in the Best Intranet/Extranet category at the International Information Industry Awards 2006 in London last week.

Speaking about the award, Dianne Nixon said: “Addenbrooke’s worked closely with OITUK to develop their tailor-made electronic medical records system, which currently holds millions of documents for information and reference. Its benefits include secure online access, via the hospital’s intranet to a patient centric view of information which supports clinical decision at the point of care.

“The continuing development of eMR demonstrates the successful partnership between clinicians, clinical support staff, IT and external suppliers.”

The annual awards offer the chance for the global industry to recognise the achievements of information teams, information and content management projects, vendors and individual information professionals.

The evening was compared by John Sergeant, and almost 400 guests were in attendance to salute excellence in the information field.
