Malcolm Stamp

Malcolm Stamp, Chief Executive

Malcolm Stamp CBE, Chief Executive of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is to take up a new position as Chief Executive of a large health board in New Zealand on 1 July 2006.

Mr Stamp said: "It has been a life goal to spend part of my career abroad, and the opportunity to work for one of the large District Health Boards in New Zealand is a very exciting one. I have enjoyed my time at Addenbrooke's over the past three years, and it remains the best NHS job in England. It is also difficult to leave such a good place with fantastic colleagues, and I wish everyone continued success. I will miss them all."

Chairman of the Trust, Mary Archer, said: "Malcolm has led the Trust with exceptional vigour and vision over the past three years, and we are very sorry to be losing him. He has been a driver for innovation and a leader of reform within both Addenbrooke's and the wider NHS. He was the chief architect of the Trust’s successful transition to Foundation status, and has led the first stages of implementation of our 2020 Vision through the creation of such major facilities as the Emergency Assessment Unit and the Elective Care Centre. He has also been at the forefront of our drive for continuous improvement in clinical service delivery and organisational structures.

"We wish Malcolm continued success as he embarks on the next phase of his career in New Zealand."

Mr Stamp has over 32 years' experience in the National Health Service, including Chief Executive posts at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool Health Authority and Crewe Health Authority. Mr Stamp currently holds a number of national positions, including appointments to the Independent Reconfiguration Panel and the Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards. He is also an elected member of the national Foundation Trust Network and the Association of UK Teaching Hospitals.
