Paul Burton and Jo Timson, collecting the award Addenbrooke's PR and Communications team has won a prestigious national award for the quality and accessibility of its annual report. Geoffrey Bowden, the chairman of the judging panel for the Nexus Annual Report and Primary Care Prospectus Awards 2005 said: "The annual report produced by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrooke's Hospital) particularly impressed the judges. The newsletter format combined with the formal annual report contained an excellent mix of information and was written in clear and accessible language. The style and reach of the documents have set a high standard for the rest of the NHS to emulate." The awards ceremony is held annually to recognise the hard work and creative skills that go into producing annual reports and prospectuses of NHS trusts. The competition reviews methods of communication, style and content in an effort to promote best practice. It recognises documents that are appropriate in terms of both information content and presentation, which present performance information in a way that is easily understood by the target audience, provide information over and above the minimum legal requirements and which comprise a key communication tool for target audiences. Jo Timson, Addenbrooke's Senior Communications Manager, and Paul Burton, graphic designer who works for the Cambridge University Medical Photography Department, picked up the award at a ceremony at the King's Fund in London on Tuesday 20 December 2005. ends |
