The speed of motorised vehicles travelling around site is an increasing issue

On the 9th of August Addenbrooke's Hospital will have six variable message signs installed on the internal road network to help reinforce the 20mph site speed limit. Vehicles travelling above the 20mph speed limit will activate a red 20 mph speed roundel and a 'Slow Down' message. The regular spacing of these signs will prove a useful reminder for drivers to keep an eye on their speed as they travel around the site

In a further development to improve safety, measures are being taken to improve the conspicuity of the existing raised pedestrian crossings. The existing pair of belisha beacon heads (flashing yellow globes) will be replaced with beacon heads which are more conspicuous during the daytime (as well as night-time). If the new heads prove more effective, then they will become the standard for all crossings on the site.
