| The children at Addenbrooke’s
hospital will be helping to rejuvenate ward D2 this week,
creating new artwork for the main corridor of the ward.

Paintfest on ward D2
|
Addenbrooke’s Arts, in partnership with volunteers
from GE Energy, is holding a ‘Paintfest’ where
patients and staff are will work with volunteer artists to
create new artwork for ward D2. Our young artists will work
on a set of ‘paint by numbers’ canvasses on
the 14th and 15th March. Arts Curator Claire Pope said, “When we heard about
Paintfest we jumped at the opportunity to join in. Taking
part in activities like this gives patients something to
focus on, taking their minds off being in hospital, and lets
patients get involved in improving their own surroundings.”
Notes to editors
• This project is part of the Addenbrooke’s
Arts programme, which enhances the hospital environment
for patients, visitors and staff, by lifting the spirit
and bringing
pleasure through arts including visual arts, music, poetry
and environment.
•
It is well recognised that art in all its forms can have
a positive impact on health – it can reduce fear,
help to relax patients, take the mind off problems and
illnesses,
and can improve recovery.
• The funding for this project is entirely charitable and no
money has been diverted from patient care.
