Three separate building works will affect access to the site from 3 December...

Multi-storey car park | Water mains works | Closure of Robinson Way

Multi-storey car park

On Monday 3 December 2007 work began on constructing the entrances and exits of the new multi-storey car park - signaling the start of the next building phase of the project.

The road adjacent to the Blood Centre will be narrowed to single file and traffic signals will be installed to manage traffic flow. These traffic signals will be in place controlling traffic for up to one month.

Emergency blue light vehicles will have priority access at all times.

The existing wooden fencing will be removed and replaced with strong metal fencing. The new site boundary will be one metre in to the road. A pedestrian footpath will be created beyond this boundary and it will be protected by a solid road traffic barrier.

This work may cause considerable site disruption.

Please can you help us to keep the site moving during peak hours by doing the following:
  • If you park in the staff car parks, approach and leave the car parks from the direction of Robinson Way or Adrian Way – avoid coming to site via main entrance roundabout and the Ambulance Station road.
  • For users of the multi-storey car park, please ensure that if you use lanes A or B, approach for Adrian Way direction.
  • For users of the multi-storey car park, please ensure that if you use lanes C or D, approach for Robinson Way direction.
  • The short length of two way road between Grantchester House (residences) and the mini roundabout adjacent the Blood Centre will become one way in the direction of Robinson Way only for the duration of the build.

The work on this part of the build is scheduled to take up to one month. We apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Water mains works

From Monday 3 December 2007 until Sunday 10 December 2007, traffic flow will be controlled in Robinson Way between the Keith Day Road and the exit to car park F to allow Cambridge Water Company to divert their mains water supply.

The work is scheduled for:

Monday 3 December 2007 Until Sunday 10 December 2007, daily between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs

* H1 and C7 Bus services will be affected in this area. The bus stop on Robinson Way will be temporarily relocated to a spot further along the road - it will be made obvious.

The works affect a 150 meter portion of Robinson Way and initially the road will be planned and refilled over its entire length. Thereafter "rolling road works" of 30 meters will be traffic light controlled during the working day. Overnight the traffic flow will be normal.

The contractor's staff has been instructed to over-ride the traffic lights for any "blue light" emergency vehicles.

Please make sure you are aware of this closure and inform staff in your department as this may affect their journey to and from work.
