ADDENBROOKE’S GETS TOP RATING FROM HOSPITAL WATCHDOG |
| Rating identifies the hospital as one of the best in the country Addenbrooke’s Hospital has scored ‘excellent’ for both quality of services and use of resources in the annual Healthcare Commission ‘Health Check’ – one of only two hospitals in the East of England to do so well. The rating identifies the hospital as one of the best in the country. “This is a great result for the Trust,” says Dr Gareth Goodier, the hospital’s Chief Executive. “It reflects the hard work all our staff have put in, consistently going above and beyond the call of duty to deal with the unprecedented activity of the last 12 months – and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who works here for their commitment to making us one of the best hospitals in the country. I’m very pleased that the Healthcare Commission has rated us so highly – but we’re not going to sit back and relax. There is always room for improvement. I want people to know that staff at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie are dedicated to putting patients and their families at the centre of everything we do, listening to what they want, and providing them with the best possible care.” The Health Check replaced the star rating system last year. It rates hospitals against standards which aim to measure what really matters to patients, taking into account views on the quality of hospital services from the local community, including patient and public representatives. Nationally, 19 NHS trusts out of 394 scored ‘excellent’ in both categories this year. In the first Health Check, covering 2005/06, Addenbrooke’s was rated as ‘excellent’ for use of resources and ‘good’ for quality of services.
