Three teams represented the hospital at last night’s East of England Health and Social Care Awards. One entry was a finalist in its category, and the other two were commended for their excellence by the judges.

The fractured neck of femur team were finalists for the ‘Service Transformation’ award, recognising their achievement in reducing these patients' average length of stay from 28 days to 15.5 days.

In the same category, the Feeding Issues Multidisciplinary Team was commended for their work to improve assessment, treatment and clinical outcomes for patients who are unable to eat.

In the ‘Leadership for Improvement’ category, the Leadership Academy was commended for its initiative to transform the leadership capability of the Trust's managers.

The awards are an annual flagship event for the Department of Health, run in partnership with the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and with the Strategic Health Authority. In total, for this region there were over 90 applications in the 13 categories.
