In November 2004 patient Sophie Munn helped Addenbrooke's launch its 'Together we can fight infection' campaign by asking 'Have you cleaned your hands?'.
We ask all staff and visitors to be extra careful about making sure they have cleaned their hands or used the special hand rubs at the entrances to wards, entrances to all bays and by every bedside. Patients can help us too by asking staff ‘Have you cleaned your hands?’ before being examined or cared for. There are posters up around the hospital to remind everyone that we can all do our bit to reduce the spread of infection.
Chief Nurse Margaret Berry says: "Providing high-quality services in a safe and clean environment is a number one priority for Addenbrooke's. Controlling hospital infections is part of our everyday working - we want to protect our patients by keeping infections down. Infections worry all of us, so please follow Sophie’s example and don’t be afraid to ask yourself and others ‘Have you cleaned your hands?’." |
