...will apply the strengths of research on immunology and infection in Cambridge to selected clinical research on immune-mediated and infectious disease, and translate the results in to new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Work will focus on (i) immune-mediated diseases to implement novel therapy and diagnostic monitoring of autoimmune disease and improve therapy through study of inflammation and immunity in the lung and immunogenetics of common diseases and (ii) infectious diseases to improve interventions in persistent virus infection, develop novel diagnostic tests and (iii) improve management of infectious diseases in developing countries
