R&D Approval takes approximately 4-6 weeks from receipt of a complete application. It is therefore VITAL that we receive all the documentation required, as failure to do so will delay the approval process.
It is recommended that R&D approval is applied for at the same time as submitting to Ethics so that the process can work in parallel, rather than separately.
The R&D Department will carry out a review checking that the research complies with the Research Governance Framework and Trust policies and procedures.
All studies must have had an independent peer review, and it must be clear who will act as sponsor and what indemnity arrangements are in place. All researchers who will be working with Addenbrooke's patients, identifiable data or tissue or within a hospital department must also hold either a substantive or honorary contract with the Trust.
Please see the R&D Researchers Checklist for the required documents that need to be submitted.
For further advice regarding the R&D Approval process please contact the R&D Officers.
We will be unable to release the R&D approval letter until we have a copy of an Ethics favourable opinion letter which lists the Addenbrooke’s site, if it is a multi centre study, so please ensure that this document is forwarded to the Research and Development department as soon as you have it. We can process your approval whilst we await this document.
Please note that you will not be able to start your study at Addenbrooke’s until you have received approval from both Ethics and the Trust.
