People in their sixties

Men and women aged 60 to 69 and registered with a GP in South Cambridgeshire and West Suffolk are being invited for screening. This is becase the risk of developing bowel cancer increases with age. Eight out 10 people who are diagnosed with bowel cancer are over 60.

Those aged 70 and above can request a test kit by calling a free phone number.

From 2010, the bowel screening programme will be extended for people aged 70 to 75 years. As a result, around one million more men and women will be screened each year.
