Paediatric Recovery

Paediatric recovery is on level 3 (the second floor).

From the main concourse, take the lift or stairs up one floor to level 3. Turn right out of the lift/stairs and then turn left. There is a corridor ahead of you, Paediatric recovery is signposted at the bottom of the corridor on the right hand (opposite ward K3).

What is paediatric recovery?

Paediatric recovery is where children from babies, up to teenagers (16 yrs) go to wake up after their operation. We look after children who have had a variety of operations. These include:

• Paediatric surgery and urology

• Orthopeadic surgery

• Plastic surgery including the Cleft palate team

• Maxiofacial surgery

• Ear, nose and throat surgery

• Ophthalmic surgery

• General surgery

Most of our operations are planned, but we also look after children who are having emergency operations.

We welcome parents/carers into paediatric recovery – and we offer a paging service so we can contact you when your child is in recovery.

Once our patients are in a settled and stable condition, their ward nurses will to collect them and take them back to their ward.

We offer our service from Monday to Friday, in normal working hours.

We have a 5-bed unit and we are a small, enthusiastic team of paediatric nurses. In the future, as we grow, we hope to offer a more improved and extended service to our patients.
