John Farman

Who was John Farman?
Our unit was named in memory of John Vernon Farman, who was a consultant anaesthetist at Addenbrooke's between 1966 and the year of his sudden and unexpected death in 1988.

He was a founding member of the Intensive Care Society and had an international reputation for his two very disparate interests: anaesthetic techniques for developing countries and anaesthesia for liver transplantation. He wrote many papers, several books and was also an enthusiastic teacher.

The John Farman ICU web pages have been written and compiled by Sarah Raper and Dr Iain Mackenzie, with the assistance and advice of patients, their families and all the ICU staff.

If you have any comments about the website content, please contact Dr Kevin Gunning at the address above.
