Before your appointment

Please try to avoid:

  • Smoking within at least 24 hours of testing


  • Consuming alcohol within 4 hours of testing


  • Performing vigorous exercise within 30 min of testing


  • Wearing clothing that substantially restricts full chest and abdominal expansion


  • Eating a large meal within 2 hours of testing

 

Please refrain from taking:

  • Short-acting inhalers (Ventolin, Bricanyl) 4 hours prior to testing


  • Long-acting inhalers (Atrovent, Combivent, Duovent) 6 hours, (Serevent, Seretide, Symbicort, Oxis) 12 hours prior to testing


  • Anti-histamines (cetirizine, loratadine) 3 days prior to testing


Please continue to take

  • steroid only inhalers (Becotide, Flixotide) as advised by your doctor

If you feel you cannot make your appointment without taking your inhalers then please take them but inform the physiologists on your arrival.
