This Centre provides diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the female urogenital tract (cervix, uterus, ovary and vulva), and aims to provide the best, radical and palliative care.

Facilities in the Unit:

  • Multidisciplinary team that includes four surgeons specialising in gynaecological oncology;

  • Full external-beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy facilities;

  • Dedicated operating theatre facilities for oncology patients;

  • Specialist nurse support;

  • Familial cancer genetics clinic .

 

Special clinical and research interests:

  • Intracavitary treatment (a type of radiotherapy treatment from within the body for tumours of the cervix or uterus);

  • Concurrent chemoradiotherapy for recurrent cervical cancer;

  • Chemotherapy for ovarian cancer;

  • Unusual tumour types such as sarcoma of the uterus;

  • Laparoscopic surgery;

  • Sentinel node management for vulval cancer.
