Welcome to the Palliative Care web pages

The Addenbrooke's Specialist Palliative Care Team offers specialist advice and support both on symptom control and the total care of patients with any life-limiting illness. The philosophy for delivering specialist palliative care at Addenbrooke's Hospital is that care is patient centred, whilst encompassing as far as possible the needs of family / carers and other healthcare professionals. Our goal is to enable the provision of excellent palliative care within the Trust.

The Specialist Palliative Care Team is an advisory service, which works in conjunction with the referring team but does not take over the patient's care completely. We see patients from any directorate in the Trust and offer both in-patient and out-patient care.

We provide education and training, research and audit and we are also involved in Trust wide initiatives, including the Liverpool Care Pathway for the dying patient.
