Welcome to the Department of Pathology

Pathology Laboratory

The Department offers a comprehensive range of pathology services, which are fully supported by consultant-grade staff. The key service objective is to provide, interpret and report analytical results with appropriate attention to quality, speed and economy, and where necessary, provide advice on any further investigations that are indicated.

All laboratories in the Department offer a comprehensive service, and are committed to the continued development of a service that is sensitive to the needs of its users.

We offer a direct-access service to general practitioners; many practices request our services electronically, and a courier service calls daily at most practices to collect samples and deliver results. Computer-based data links for reporting results are also used in over half of the general practices.
