Why do I get changes in my mood?

Most people do have changes in their mood from time to time. For example, girls and women can notice they feel more 'down', sad, and perhaps irritable before their periods.

Sometimes you feel 'sad' because of something that has happened to you. You might have lost someone close to you, have split up from your partner, have stresses from school, college or work, or be worried about a health problem in yourself or someone close to you. It is quite a natural reaction to feel sadness but sometimes this sadness can seem to last too long or cause you health problems.

If your sad moods start to affect your health, or are affecting your work/social life then see a GP.

You can talk to someone about any of these issues, in confidence, at CENTRE 33, Cambridge.
