I am not sure if I am gay, straight or bisexual
Admiring someone of the same sex is common and sometimes you might feel attracted to them - this doesn't necessarily mean you are gay.
If you are gay, you might be strongly sexually attracted to people of the same sex, but also you might be as strongly sexually attracted to people of the opposite sex, this is often called being bisexual. Many organisations, including staff at shac, will give you advice about your sexuality and will help you feel happy about whatever choices you make. At shac, we are very comfortable discussing such issues with you, if you want our help. You can also check out our contacts page for local helplines and contacts.
Can I get into trouble with the law?
In the UK, laws prohibit boys or men below a certain age having anal sex with other boys or men.
Why do people say it can be difficult to be gay?
Some people have strong religious or cultural opinions about whether it is right to have sex with someone of your own sex. This can make it more complicated for gay people to be open about their sexuality, especially when they are young. It is more 'acceptable' nowadays for gay people to have and bring up children.
