Vascular surgery is a subspecialty of general surgery in which diseases of the vascular system, or arteries and veins, are managed, largely via surgical intervention.

Vascular Outpatients Clinic

Three vascular clinics are held each week in Clinic 4 in Outpatients. These are one-stop assessment clinics, with colour duplex ultrasound available to assist rapid diagnosis.

Information for patients

• Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)

• Caring for your feet - for people with reduced circulation and/or diabetes

• Carotid artery disease and the prevention of strokes

• Cervical or lumbar sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis

• Claudication, a disease of the arteries

• Diseases of the veins, including varicose veins phlebitis, deep vein thrombosis and venous insufficiency, and surgery for varicose veins
