List of senior staff
The Rosie is committed to offering training and development
to all our staff, whatever their role within the hospital.
The service we provide is diverse and offers a range of opportunities
for all staff to learn new skills and develop both personally
and professionally. Our provision of maternity services is
constantly changing and developing in line with new evidence
and guidelines and this offers a challenging environment in
which to work.

In Maternity Services our staff include:
Midwives: Midwives are the largest group of qualified
staff at the Rosie, and are present at all births. They work
in both the hospital (75%) and community (25%). Those working
primarily in the community support the hospital when necessary.
Specialist midwifery
roles...

Consultant Midwife in Normal Midwifery:
Susan Burvill has the challenge of both raising the profile
of normal midwifery, and supporting midwives and women to
realise their full potential in the normalisation of childbirth.
Supervisors of midwives: 15 supervisors
of midwives (both managers and clinicians) work to improve
the standard of care and raise the profile of midwife supervision.
Consultant obstetricians:The emphasis
of our medical care is shifting from doctors in training to
a consultant-delivered service.
Our ten consultant obstetricians plan and oversee the care
of a caseload of women requiring medical opinion.
Senior consultant anaesthetists: Consistent
and excellent on-call care is provided by senior anaesthetists
in both the Delivery Unit and Obstetric Theatre. There is
a comprehensive pain-relief service, anaesthetic support for
the elective and emergency theatre, and active involvement
with obstetricians for women requiring high-dependency care.
Consultant neonatologists and the Neonatal
Surgical Team: We also work closely with staff in Neonatal
Services and from other parts of Addenbrooke's:
A team of five consultant neonatologists plan and oversee
the care of neonates. We also have the support of three paediatric
surgeons, a cardiac surgeon (eg duct ligation) and a neonatal
neurosurgeon.
Maternity care assistants: Maternity care assistants
(MCAs) help us maintain a high-quality service to all women
who use the services of the Rosie Hospital. They provide midwives
and nurses with both support and assistance.
