Test result

'A positive result
with one type
of pregnancy test'

The first thing we need to consider is 'Why you think you could be pregnant'. Is it because

  • You have recently had unprotected sex
If this has been in the past few days, then what you might need is emergency contraception. See the PCT website for more information.

  • You have symptoms of pregnancy
The commonest symptom of pregnancy is missing a period. Other symptoms include feeling very tired, having sore breasts, passing urine more frequently or feeling sick (and not just in the morning).

What should I do?

The first thing you need to do is have a pregnancy test. When we know that you are pregnant, then we can help you decide what to do next.
