![]() Making a decision about what contraception to use is a very personal thing - different methods suit different people at different times in their lives. Most people find it helpful to talk through the various options with a health professional who has a particular interest and expertise in this area. You can make an appointment to do this either at your general practice surgery, or at the Cambridge Family Planning Service. It can be useful to have some knowledge about the various methods that are available before you talk to a nurse or doctor. It can help you know what questions to ask so you can decide what will be best for you. It is always important to remember that pregnancy is not the only thing you might 'catch' as a result of having sex. If you have unprotected sex, you can also catch sexual infections, which are more common that most people think. 'Anyone who is having sex and does not intend to start a pregnancy should always think about both pregnancy and infection and how to prevent both of them.'
