Grief & Loss IV Infant Loss

A Half Day Course

Aims:

  • To explore the feelings of loss and attachment.

  • To understand the special aspects of infant loss.

  • To consider the impact of infant loss on the family unit.

  • To encourage participants to be aware of their own responses and needs.

Topics covered:

  • Types of loss and their impact.

  • What is different about the death of a child.

  • Miscarriage and stillbirth.

  • Neonatal death.

  • Early childhood death and the family unit.

  • What about the carers?

Target:

This course is specific and would be suitable for those who work with families impacted by infant loss. A basic knowledge of theories of loss would be an advantage but not essential.
