Grief & Loss VI Multi Cultural Aspects of Grief & Loss

A Half Day Course

Aims:

  • To develop awareness and sensitivity to the multi-faith and multi-cultural aspects that are part of the healthcare setting.

  • To sketch out some of the aspects of the various faith communities that impact today.

  • To challenge the individual’s own perceptions on the need for respecting the privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs of others.

Topics covered:

  • Current NHS requirements/documentation.

  • Respect for dignity and privacy—identifying issues in our work place and in our own experience.

  • Defining spiritual and religious needs.

  • How we monitor them.

  • Major faith communities in the UK.

  • Literature on faith groups.

  • Summaries on groups and their artefacts.

  • Areas of inequality and our responses.
