Monsignor Eugène Harkness

Monsignor Harkness is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of East Anglia. Eugène studied for the priesthood, taking degrees in Philosophy at the St Thomas' University, in Sacred Theology at the Gregorian University in Rome, and Pontifical degrees in Canon Law at the University of Ottawa.
He was ordained at Our Lady and the English Martyrs in Cambridge in 1984, and began pastoral work in Norfolk.

  • For ten years, he was the Judicial Vicar for the Diocese, and for some time also as Vice- Chancellor and Chancellor.

  • In 1996, he was appointed parish priest to St Philip Howard Parish in Cambridge, the boundaries of which include some twenty villages, the south eastern part of the City.

  • He is the Roman Catholic Chaplain for Addenbrooke's Hospital, Brookfields Hospital and Arthur Rank Hospice.
