Revd Phillip Staves
Assistant Chaplain

Although a Yorkshire-man by birth, Phillip has lived in Cambridgeshire for most of his adult life.

He originally came to the county as a teacher and taught mathematics for fifteen years in two local Village Colleges.

In 1993 Phillip became Student-Pastor of Girton Baptist Church and combined ministry in the church with training at Spurgeon's College in London.

During this time the church grew in size and upon ordination in 1997 Phillip was invited to become full-time Minister at Girton.

Phillip joined the Chaplaincy team at Addenbrooke's on a part-time basis in January 2002, and became full-time Assistant Chaplain in the October.
Although a Baptist Minister, Phillip was brought up in the Church of England and has also been a member of a Methodist Church, experience that now helps him to work ecumenically in the hospital.

Phillip regularly takes services and preaches in local churches.

He maintains an educational link by being a governor at the local primary school and is the Free Church representative on Cambridgeshire County Council Young Persons and Children Scrutiny Committee.
