The Revd. Deborah McVey
Assistant Chaplain
Deborah combines three ministries; a half-time post as minister at St Luke's Local Ecumenical Partnership, Victoria Road, Cambridge, chaplaincy for Eastern Region Ministry Course (http://www.ermc.cam.ac.uk/) and with the chaplaincy team at Addenbrooke’s hospital.
Deborah is married to William, she taught in mainstream and special primary schools before having a family of four, now adult, children. During 13 years as full-time mum, she worked as Voluntary Area Co-ordinator for Tradicraft, third world trading organisation pioneering its introduction within Cambridge churches.
Deborah trained with East Anglian Ministerial Training Course, now ERMC, before ordination in 1998 to the ministry of Word and Sacrament in the United Reformed Church , whereupon she became Community Chaplain in a doctors' surgery, whilst Associate Minister in Emmanuel URC, Cambridge . She recently completed her MA in Pastoral Theology, her dissertation studies focused on the potential for chaplaincy in primary healthcare.
Deborah served for 7 years as Health and Healing Advocate for the Eastern Synod of the URC, promoting her ecumenical commitment to the ministry of wholeness and healing in which both faith and medicine are integrated.
