CHCC College of Healthcare Chaplains

We offer pastoral care and support to all members of staff and their families. This is a unique service offered to staff from all disciplines.

As we are based on the hospital site, we can respond promptly to any request from a member of staff. We are always pleased to help - whether this is with an informal or impromptu conversation in your place of work or after making an appointment.

All our contacts with staff carry complete confidentiality.

Counselling and befriending
We are happy to provide or arrange counselling, but much of our support work with staff is to do with debriefing, befriending, listening and creating a safe environment to talk in confidence.

  • We are committed to making time for staff.

  • We will make ourselves available - even if it is at short notice.

  • We too are health-care professionals and understand many of the pressures and demands you might be facing.

  • We are interested in you as a person and are willing to share any concerns or dilemmas that you may have.

We will not:

  • Take the high moral ground

  • Be judgmental in any way

  • 'Inflict' Christian beliefs on individuals

  • Be concerned whether you attend church or not

Group Facilitation
Some disciplines involve us regularly (or as the need arises) as a facilitator in their patient or staff support schemes, such as debrief meetings. We aim to respond to you 'where you are at' rather than impose our agenda on any conversation.
