A variety of opportunities...

Guides

Each year, hundreds of volunteers give up their free time on a regular basis to help patients throughout Addenbrooke's. You can join us by applying to support one of the voluntary organisations that are here, or directly as a Trust volunteer, supporting us in some of the activities below.

Clinics: volunteers assist with general duties attached to a specific clinic, usually involving a mixture of patient contact and clerical duties

Flower service: volunteers visit the wards three mornings each week to attend to the flowers of patients

Fundraising: Volunteering at Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) events or organising your own fundraising event for ACT

Garden Friends: Volunteers help us create, develop and maintain our garden areas

Guides: Volunteers in the Outpatient and the Medical Admissions entrance help guide patients to clinics and wards

Library service: volunteers provide a mobile library service to the wards, and take donated magazines to waiting room areas

Newspaper service: volunteers visit the wards each day, to take orders for newspapers and then purchase and deliver them to patients.

One Off Opportunities: From time to time the Trust requests volunteers for one off events, including Open Days and Public events, as well as training sessions for our clinical and administrative departments. Volunteers interested in getting involved in these events can include this in their applications forms.

Placements working with children: volunteers can assist in Outpatient play areas and crèche; they are always supervised by paid staff

Visitors: some volunteers support patients who need some company

Ward Assistant: Supporting a ward in some clerical duties, as well as running errands for patients, serving light refreshments and keeping patients company
