Ward C2

Ward C2 can be found on level 2 (ground floor) of the hospital. We are through the main concourse, past the main lifts and on the left.

• We are the regional centre for children aged from birth to 16 years who have cancer (oncology) and blood disorders (haematology), caring for children receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We are also the medical ward for children aged 3 to 16 years from the Cambridge area.

• The ward consists of 17 beds divided into six cubicles, two double rooms, one triple room and a four-bed bay. These beds/rooms are allocated according to medical need.

• A parent/carer's bed is found next to every child's bed. We can only accommodate one parent/carer on the ward.

• We have a playroom, teenage room, school room, parents room and laundry room.

Meals

• breakfast is served in the playroom from 0800 - 0900 every day, but can be provided at any time.

• during the week meals are prepared for the children on demand, between 1100 - 1900 hrs by our ward cook

• over the weekend, meals are from the hospital trolley

• Saturday night is C2's 'Takeout Night' when patients can have a takeaway meal from the hospital food court.

Play etc

• we have a team of play leaders and nursery nurses who provide games, art, craft, puzzles and toys

• we also have a large stock of videos, DVDs and computer games

• each bed has a television with free viewing between 0700-2000 hrs

• we also have an outdoor play area.

Visiting

Infections

• when you are visiting us, we ask you to be considerate of our patients' needs and not visit if you are unwell or have an infectious illness

• you will not be allowed on the ward if you have chicken pox or other spots or an obvious infection.
